reading update 2/12/2022
Been a while! Reading has been kind of slow since my last update; I've only read three books since then.
TBR:
Read:
Mating the Huntress by Talia Hibbert
4/5. It's a fun paranormal romp--not as good as The Brown Sisters books, but still quite good. I love the slightly unhinged dynamic between our heroine, who really wants to kill him, and our hero, who has fallen madly in love with her and is only mildly put off by the murder attempts. I'm not a huge fan of the heroine just happening to be the one member of her family who isn't a huntress--felt like a missed opportunity to me--but overall I still liked it.
The Beautiful Ones by Silvia Moreno-Garcia
5/5. This is the kind of romance of manners I adore, and the supernatural twist makes it exceptionally good. I love the romance, which is a slow build, and I love the development our two lovers take on their past to each other. Country girl meets cynical new money man...delicious. Exquisite.
Something Fabulous by Alexis Hall
5/5. Perfect books DO exist and this IS one of them. I love everything about this: the deliberate ridiculousness, the surprisingly lovely prose, our repressed protagonist and his journey of discovery...it feels in the best possible way like a really good fanfic. It's a sparkling, witty, heartfelt book that I bought two copies of. If I could give it more than 5 stars I would.
