This year, I was very bad about doing my monthly reading updates. A lot has happened in my real life, which I may post about later, but for now let's just say that some things had to fall through the cracks and my reading blog was one of them. I do think regular blogging helps me formulate my thoughts about books in a more coherent way, so I'd like to do better about it this year. Articulating my thoughts about the books I read is not one of my skills, so let's keep working on it!

Barely made my quarterly goal of 50 books.

a lot of katherine addison )

Forgot to do these back when they were due, but whatever, it's my blog and no one is reading it.

read a decent amount )
I worked only night shifts this month, had a lot of down time, and was very productive, bookwise. Not in any other way.

Currently Reading:

Running Close to the Wind by Alexandra Rowland

I...I'm working on it, I promise.

the best reading month of my life )
Whoops. Forgot all about November! Let's go.
finishing the year strong )

We're back on track! I don't think I'm gonna hit the numbers I hit last year, but I think we can make it to 150. Right now the goal is just to get through all the things i planned to get through this year...On nights through December, which has historically been very good for my reading, so we shall see.

we're back )
A truly abysmal reading month.

you can tell in september i was struggling lmao )

Persuasion by Jane Austen

4/5. Honestly, I think Captain Wentworth is kind of annoying, but I do like this novel more than I did the first time I read it. Jane Austen really brings all the characters and their foibles to life.

My best month yet, with an insane 24 books read!
on target to beat last year's numbers )
July was my reread month -- a new thing I was trying where I dedicated time to rereading books so I wasn't being haunted by the guilt of my TBR. July was probably the wrong month to do this, but hey, we did it!

rereads as far as the eye can see )
I read a shocking amount this month, considering how miserable I was for most of it. Let's go!

finally getting into my 2024 releases )
Pretty slow in May! hopefully I can make up for it in the back half of June. Here's what I read:
books! )

Some good stuff in here. I've been trying to read more off my backlist, which I think is going well, but it means a lot of new releases are going neglected. Alas.

read more than i thought i would tbh )
Spring depression has set in, and I have dropped off accordingly. Don't expect much from me until June -- the next two months are very busy for me.

But let's get to the books!

a handful of reads )
Not as many books as January, but still I did pretty good. I'm doing a challenge this year where I try to read 26 books off my backlist, one author for each letter of the alphabet, and so far I'm making good headway and getting through some of these e-books that have sat unread for way too long.click the cut! )

Starting the year off strong with a bunch of Kindle Unlimited titles, plus one actual new release that I got to in a timely fashion.

starting the year off strong )
An insanely productive reading month for me, despite me being on a very busy trauma rotation. We're sending out 2023 with a bang! Down below!

final update of 2023 and it's beefy )
Massive book hungover in November, unfortunately.

As the year winds to a close, I've made the executive decision to return my stack of unread library books and put everything on hold that I don't feel like reading. I'll get back to these when I get back to them, I guess. These aren't DNFs, just books that I'm not in the mood for right now.

only 3 books :( )
I read almost as many books in October as I did in the first three months of the year combined :) Shout out to night shifts where I had hours of down time.

I also DNF'd a lot of books this month, but I think I'm going to do a DNF round-up at the end of the year because I think there's some fun stuff to dig into re: my reading habits, and then start adding DNFs to the monthly posts next year. I rarely DNF, for the record. I read two Ernest Cline books and 5/6 50sog books. I have the fucking stamina and will hateread anything if you ask nicely and let me rant in your DMs a bit.

Also, I spoil a lot of books in this one! So if you see a title you want to read unspoiled, keep scrolling.

a long, long list. get a snack perhaps )
My beefiest month yet! I started a massive P&P variation reread in order to put together a rec list. Look for that later this month.

my beefiest month yet )
