A truly abysmal reading month.

Currently Reading:

Queer Transfigurations edited by Thomas Baudinette

So far, I'm enjoying it. I've never read any academic work that was fandom-related, but it's nice to get that perspective, since I don't really know much about it.

Iron Flame by Rebecca Yarros

Every time I recap this book I see how much I have left and I despair.

Adventures in Space edited by Patrick Parrinder

Picked this up because I'm still trying to get through the Hugo-nominated novellas and novels. I like having an anthology to pick at between books, and so far I'm enjoying it.

New Reads:

Siren Queen by Nghi Vo

5/5. Really a fascinating book. I feel like the magical elements really build out the real life issues and themes Vo is trying to explore so well.

The Hollow Places by T. Kingfisher

4/5. I thought this was very creepy and very entertaining, but not particularly deep.

Rereads:

Gideon the Ninth by Tamsyn Muir

5/5. Still one of my favorite books ever. Muir's prose is delightful, and this is a book I savored, reading in drips so I could linger on passages. Can't wait to finally reread Harrow the Ninth, a book I have read once over the course of a single weekend where I did myself massive psychic damage.

Persuasion by Jane Austen

4/5. Honestly, I think Captain Wentworth is kind of annoying, but I do like this novel more than I did the first time I read it. Jane Austen really brings all the characters and their foibles to life.
